How this ledger is written

Start with an ordinary trading-day question. Explain the record, calculation and judgement needed to answer it.

For the team making the decision

Spritzpuzzlewhistle is an independent information website about intelligent retail inventory systems. We write for store managers, stock colleagues and operations teams who need to understand monitoring and forecasting without working through a software sales presentation.

The guides follow one operational chain: establish what stock is present, estimate what may be needed, decide what to replenish and maintain the records connecting those decisions. The website does not supply inventory software, inspect your store or act on your stock records.

Examples are not benchmarks

Invented quantities are labelled as worked examples. They explain a calculation; they do not predict savings, establish a target or recommend a universal stock level.

Methods keep their assumptions

We describe where a method is useful and what can break it. A reorder formula without a lead-time definition is not a complete operating policy.

References stay close to the point

We link to standards bodies, public organisations and open methodological references where relevant. Naming GS1, ISO, the ONS or the Met Office does not imply affiliation, certification or endorsement.

What the ledger leaves to your team

Your commercial terms, data quality, safety requirements and operating constraints determine the right implementation. Test changes in a controlled scope and involve the people responsible for purchasing, fulfilment, finance and data protection. General information cannot replace that local assessment.

Corrections and questions

If a definition is unclear or a calculation seems wrong, send the page address and the specific passage. A small, anonymised example can help. Do not send customer information, passwords, supplier contracts or a live inventory export.
